SpaceX Capsule 2030 | Human Housing for Mars
SpaceX Capsule 2030 is a prototype living capsule designed with just 30 square meters for the first astronauts to colonize Mars. More than just a shelter, it is the first domestic architecture off-Earth, designed for rest, relaxation, and human well-being in an extreme environment. Its modular and self-sufficient design addresses critical conditions such as cosmic radiation, extreme temperatures, and the need for isolation, integrating advanced technology and human-centered architecture.
Construction is carried out using robotic 3D printing, utilizing Martian regolith, combined with layers of ice and pressurized modules, guaranteeing structural protection, minimal energy consumption, and independence from Earth. The MOXIE system is the heart of the project, enabling the production of oxygen from Martian CO₂, making it possible to live inside without a helmet, just like on Earth.
The living spaces and bedrooms offer direct views of the Martian landscape, utilizing graphene-reinforced aluminum silicate glass with electrochromic technology that allows the enclosure to be completely darkened for privacy and rest. The capsule, designed for two astronauts, includes a bedroom, private bathroom, and intimate living area, as well as communication systems to maintain contact with family and Earth.
